SAFEGUARD OF MATERNITY AND PATERNITY RIGHTS

21/09/2015

Law no. 120/2015 of September 1, 2015, was published approving the ninth amendment to the Labour Code with the intent of strengthening rights associated with parenthood.

Under the recently approved Law, parental leave may be enjoyed by both parents simultaneously between 120 and 150 days.

Regarding the exclusive parental leave of the father, the Labour Code now provides that the father is entitled to take a 15 working days parental leave, instead of the 10 days provided in the previous Law.

At last, please note that the present Law provides that the employer must display in the company premises all the information concerning parenting rights legislation. However, if the company possesses its own Rules of Procedure, such information may be published in the referred document.
